Skate to Great is operated by volunteers and while we would love to be able to pick up skates directly, unfortunately we are currently limited in our abilities to do so. We have lots of locations across Canada conveniently located to donate skates. If you are unable to find a donation location near you, we request that you look to your local community and see if a local school, community center or arena could put your used skates to good use. If you find a great location, let us know! We would love to include them on our site and have others donate there too. Please provide us with a contact there so we can have our volunteer team reach out and make a connection.
We are actively seeking additional locations that work with our model. Unfortunately due to collection, sorting and liability concerns it can often be problematic. Drop offs have to be done during business hours at all locations. There are no after hours drop offs. Please call the location prior to making a donation.
Please check our How To Donate skates page.
We do, but it sometimes is complicated to ship. We suggest finding a local school, arena, community center or organization to see if donating your skates will make a difference locally. Please contact us if you find a great place to provide skates to. We would love to include them on our skate donation locations map for others to donate to as well.
Unfortunately, there are none that we know of at this time. Skate To Great is actively seeking to expand and we hope to reach the United States in the coming years. If you would like to get involved please click here.
Skate To Great only supports community programs, charities and schools and does not make donations to individual children. However we suggest you check out our Community Organizations page for an extensive list of organizations that can directly suit your child’s needs.
As a registered Canadian charity we can in many instances issue receipts for monetary donations. However, we are not registered in the United States or any other region and therefore can not provide receipts outside Canada. Taxable receipts can only be given for skate donations that are accepted at Play It Again Sports locations. Due to the Canadian Revenue Agency requirements, someone must value your donation in order to issue a receipt and unfortunately we do not have qualified staff at StorageMart locations to do so. If you desire a taxable receipt please make your donation at one of the many participating Play It Again Sports locations. Their many capable staff will apprise your donation and provide you a receipt. Once you have the receipt, please click here and make a taxable receipt request. Our volunteer team will reconcile that a donation for the amount provided has been obtained. We will issue a receipt typically in 2-4 weeks after receiving your request. We often will send your receipt via email as a PDF file to save costs associated with postage. For more information on this process click here.
